The Sultanate of Oman and its capital, Muscat, is one of the major countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council. With an area of 309,500 km², the country has been divided administratively into 11 governorates. The Sultanate pursues a policy of a free mixed market economy. In order to achieve its economic and social objectives, the Sultanate seeks to implement the Oman Vision 2040 under the kind patronage of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, may God protect him and the patrons of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Tariq.
Geographical location
The Sultanate of Oman is located in the southeastern part of the Arabian Peninsula, bordered on the western side by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, on the northwest by the United Arab Emirates, and bordered on the southwest by Yemen, overlooking the Arabian Gulf, the Arabian Sea, and the Sea of Oman
